Carsyns cooking project

Good Start

Well last night I was feeling a bit overwhelmed. Saying good by to Chad this morning was really hard. We hate being apart. It just stinks. But the day goes on. I got up and got right to it. I've done quite a bit today. I'm far from being done but I think if I get a few more things done this afternoon I will be in good shape to finish by the end of the week. I think the one I dread the most is mowing the back yard. I'm not sure why. I love doing yard work but for some reason the back yard kicks my fanny.

Well, there's the dryer buzzer time to get back to it!

A Busy Week Ahead.

I have mixed feelings about this upcoming week. Will I be able to survive and hold it all together, or will I turn it into a complete disaster and crash hard right on my face? Last week I got so far behind on all of my house work. I kept up on the basics like dishes and putting toys away but I didn't do laundry at all. The reason was, I did all of that corn. It took a lot out of me to freeze 19 dozen ears of corn by myself. So this week I get to play catch up on everything. Normally that isn't a big deal, I can handle house work. My problem is, that we're also starting with Carysn's schooling in the morning, and Chad has inventory at work this week so he works Mon-Fri. That means he leaves at 6:30 in the morning and I wont see him again until Fri at 9:30pm. So will I be able to hold it together this week without his moral support? It's going to be a tough challenge. Some of the things I will be doing this week,
Carsyn's school. I'm excited to get started with this. Not only do I love the school we have him in but I'm also adding things to the curriculum. He's going to learn Sewing, Scrapbooking, cooking, Wood Working with Chad and we're having him do more reading from the Book of Mormon. I'm so proud of him. He's only supposed to be a 2nd grader in regards to his age but he is going to do 3 rd grade work and 4th grade math. He did his Math assignment on Friday and he gets to skip 24% of the work because he already knows it.
Corbyn, I don't know what to say about Corbyn, he is so eager to learn but I will definitely have to teach it in a different way. But for starters he needs to get his alphabet and numbers down. He's got his colors and shapes So we're off to a good start. Last year I noticed that every time I did homework with Carsyn, Corbyn always ran and got flash cards or a book or something. So this year I made him his own "School Binder" We filled it with alphabet coloring pages and numbers and some other things that he can do for his home work.
So we will see how we do this week regarding school,
The goals I have for myself to do this week to just get caught up is, Mow the back yard, Make cover pages for the boys' binders, get the garage put back together (I have some more scrapbooking items to move) so I can park in there again, get the laundry caught back up. I usually keep it to the point where I only have to wash 1 load a day, but I'm really behind. I need to make some long over due Thank You cards. and get my Visiting Teaching cards made. Run to Walmart for a few items and clean up the pantry.

So I ask again, Will I be able to hold it together, or will I fall hard?

I'm going to miss Chad so much. I hate how he can't come home every night. But it's a sacrifice that has to be made for our family. And I know other Families have it a lot worse. I feel blessed.

Stuck in the Tub...Yep!

So while I was taking a nice hot shower this morning, I thought "maybe this will help my sore stiff back" so I turned the heat up a little more and just stood there relaxing. Well I started to get a little light headed so I turned off the water since I was finished showering. Before I could get out I was still pretty light headed so I just sat down in the tub for a few minutes waiting to cool off a bit. Nothing scary or anything. So then I tried to get up HA HA HA that was not happening. If you haven't seen me lately I'm HUGE! I think this is the biggest I've ever been out of all 3 other kids. So I just laid there waiting for help. Chad was home and I knew he would be coming in shortly (he always peeks in while I'm showering for some reason hmmmm wonder why) I just relaxed, took a little snooze laying there like a beached whale in the empty bath tub. I'm not really sure what Chad was thinking when he found me, But I'm pretty sure he was laughing at me inside his head.

Walks like a Frog

Back to School

So it's that time of year! We need to get Carsyn going on school again. He had some small work books that he did through out the summer but the time has come to get his curriculum going. We're still using Maeser Academy Yes it cost more then "free" but for us, it's what we need. We looked into things like "connections academy" and K-12 which are both free online public schools but the problem with those were, He is required so many hours a day and so many days a year just like a regular public school. Well with the other kids there is no way I would be able to focus on school work from 9-3 every day. And there are some days we wake up and just decide it isn't happening today. With the online public schools that wouldn't be ok, With Maeser, the lessons are 1-4 hours but we're usually do it in 2 and if we don't finish by May, it's ok. We really love it's flexibility, and we Love how it's LDS based. Even I was learning stuff from the scriptures with his work. Carsyn will be doing 3rd grade work this year except for Math he will be doing 4th grade. Yes he is only 7 but keep in mind he started reading really young and we started 1st grade when he was 5 and even now the work seems so easy for him. We feel very blessed to be able to home school him. And I know it's whats best for him.
